Viña Monty Rioja Garnacha 2015

Established in 1870, Viña Monty celebrates 150 years of winemaking at Bodegas Montecillo in Rioja Alta. Historically this was the winery's top label and it has been re-launched in 2020 with two amazing red wines. For the Garnacha, the grapes are sourced from two distinct plots; one in Arenzana, Rioja Alta, and one in Rioja Oriental at lower altitude near the Ebro River. The two wines are vinified separately before blending and ageing in new French and new mixed (French and American) oak barrels for 26 months, followed by 20 months in bottle before release. Rich and inviting on the nose with oodles of juicy black fruit and finely judged oak, the wine is silky in texture with tremendous concentration and a very long finish.
