Michel Mallard and his sons' vineyard is located in the commune of Ladoix-Serrigny, a small village at the junction between the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Vine growers from father to son for five generations, the vineyard has expanded over time and now cultivates 11 hectares.
This wine is a perennial over-perfomer for the appellation and even more so this year. The finish is long and fresh and with surprising intensity.
A really sexy, red currant filled bouquet, perfumed and fragrant, this is always a highlight wine, despite the relatively uncelebrated appellation. The fruit is jammy and concentrated, overt and lush, with a graceful lick of acidity providing an excellent balance. Absolutely delicious. This is classic Chorey and superb value red Burgundy!
